We headed to the airport on Thursday morning with plenty of extra time. Thank goodness. Two car seats, two babies, one stroller, two huge suitcases, two protective car seat carrier bags, two carry on bags and two mommas later, we struggle up to the Southwest counter. Check-in is going smoothly until the agent asks for the girls' birth certificates. Crap! They are safely sitting on the kitchen counter, where we placed them the night before as we were doing last minute things to get ready. Off Leah flys home to get them, while I finish checking in and get myself and the girls through security. Fortunately, people seem to take pity on a single-looking mom and her two babes - I had lots of help from kind strangers and airport employees! Once I was through security and waiting for Leah to get back, I wandered around the airport terminal to keep the girls occupied looking at all the different people coming and going. Guess what we found at gate 9? That's right - Santa! The girls don't look too happy, but at least they aren't crying their heads off... They were fascinated with Santa's beard, which, although I did not confirm this, I swear was real.
