And... the down side.

As quickly as we post good news, we get not-so-good news.  Last night Emerson had a bradycardia - a drop in heartrate - during her sleep that required stimulation to come out of.  Again, it's expected from babies born at her age, and isn't anything too scary, but it means that she isn't being discharged today, and is on her own 5 day countdown!  Looks like she didn't want to be separated from her sister...  So now, earliest discharges are Sunday for C and Wednesday for E.  Sigh...  This news didn't exactly make our morning happy, but it wasn't the huge disappointment like last time - I guess we are succeeding slightly in trying not to have any expectations.  Although, I definitely teared up a little at the realization that we won't be bringing home our whole family on Mother's Day.  Guess the storybook endings really do only happen in Hollywood!  :)

Here are some sweet pictures from this morning's feeding.  We finally were able to get a couple with both girls!

In other good news, my milk is continuing to come in full force!  I have almost 12 hours of feedings stored in the fridge, ahead of the girls. It's amazing to not have to add milk supply issues to the list of stressors we're dealing with. I'm feeling really blessed & lucky that that piece of our story has come together relatively easily.

  1. Love the photos! And especially the one of Chris. So sweet. I've been crossing my fingers that you would have a storybook ending and get to bring the girls home tomorrow. Still....they are doing remarkably well! And regardless of where the four of you are tomorrow, you will be TOGETHER on your very first Mother's Day! Happiest of days to two very special mommies and their two very special babies. ;-)

    much love,
