Internet memes: reasons my kids are crying

Every once in a while I remember that we started this blog as memory aid.  All of Chris's photos are lovely snapshots that allude to how amazing our children are.  My recent posts?  Sarcastic screeds about raising toddlers.  Children, please know that I love you and would never change a thing.  Humor is just part of how your mama enjoys her days.

I would venture that 90% of my friends with small children have seen the viral kiddo site, Reasons my son is crying. And yes, it is only funny because it is true.  Every post gets an "amen," because the child brain is a wonder to comprehend and laughing is better than frustration, which is pretty much what you feel when your toddler has a meltdown (again) because you tried to help her put her shoe on the correct foot.

We definitely snap some shots of our kids in tears and some make it on to the blog, some don't.  As an ode to the meme, here are a few of the recent reasons Charlotte or Emerson were crying.

  • I wouldn't let her drink bath water
  • She took apart her quesadilla, now it is apart
  • I threw out the egg she dropped on the floor
  • I won't let her take her egg out of the trash
  • I stopped her from running into oncoming traffic
  • The ice in her cup melted
  • I'm wearing pink, she is not
  • Penguin is lying down, not sitting up
  • She can't pick up all of her 18 dolls at once
  • I woke up her baby, it was sleeping
  • We are out of oranges
  • Her sister's reindeer animal has a glowing nose, hers has glowing cheeks
  • Both legs wouldn't fit into the same leg hole in her pjs
