It's been a while since I've done one of these lists, but I always really like looking back on them.
~pink. Char especially loves everything pink these days. If there's ever a choice, C wants the pink one. E has started to catch on.
~self!!! When the girls want to do something without help, they proclaim an assertive "self!", as in, I'd like to do it myself.
~boots. The girls love boots. Rain boots, snow boots, mama's work boots. Anytime, anywhere, boots are better than shoes, hands down.
~Em's need for an increasing number of loveys at night. Each girl has been going to sleep with a lovey for awhile now. C's personal favorite is one of the ducks, "dah". Em has fallen for "baa", her sheep lovey. Lately, however, E has been asking for more and more loveys to join her. A few days ago she had 2 baas, 1 dah, 1 happo (hippopotamus), and tried to get me to give her another. I finally put my foot down, using the rationale that poor Charlotte had to have at least one back-up lovey...
~sleeping arrangements. C doesn't want anything in her crib except her and her lovey. Em would like her blanket, her bear, her sheep, and 4-5 loveys, please. In case anyone was worried about the girls having identical personalities...
~one, two! The girls have just started to count, and they love counting to two. Everything is two. Ask how many there are of a particular thing and the answer is always an excited "two!"
~yamo, yamo. The girls have several Llama Llama books (thanks to the Carneys!!), and we found a farm around the corner from our house that has one. We've gone there a few times, and now, anytime you ask what they want to do, it's inevitably to go see the yamo!
~Nana. The girls nicknamed their new nanny, Brigette. Before she started, I was telling them about how Gette was going to start soon, to get them ready. I must have said the word "nanny", because as soon as she walked in the door, they started calling her Nana. It has stuck! Good thing none of the grandmothers are Nana....
~the endless singing. It's the sweetest thing ever, and deserves a video. The girls sing All. The. Time. It's more like loud chanting, really. It's quite repetitive and insistent. Which makes moms crack up.
~reading. Books are still a top obsession.
~holding hands. We ask the girls to hold our hands sometimes, like when we are going to cross a big street, or if we are in a crowded area. (You try simultaneously holding two 2 year olds who don't want to be held!) Anyway, they have translated this into, if I'm holding anyone's hand it must suffice, right? They have started demanding to hold each other's hands instead of Mommy's. Adorable. (but not quite the point...)
~"see". Anytime something happens that they are curious about, they demand to "see". So far, these girls are quite sparing with their words. I'm sure I'll look back longingly on these days in a few years when they chatter my ear off!
~pushing each other on their new plastic tricycles. They have plastic toys that wheel up and down the driveway. They are sort of tricycles, but the very youngest version of such. They love having one of them sitting and the other pushing from behind. But make no mistake, if Mama or Mommy try to help out, we get a firm, "No Touch!"
~peek a boo. The girls love playing peek a boo. They would do it for hours if we could keep up the stamina. Behind a door, behind a shower curtain, behind a blanket, behind anything really!
~helping Mommy cook dinner. The girls love getting out the stepstool and helping me "cook" dinner. I mostly give them little jobs while I whirl around actually working. They love throwing things out into the trash, putting sliced veggies into the pan, or putting scraps into the compost bucket. Anything that is "helping". Or, coloring on the counter or spilling the rice on the floor. That's all good too.
An iPhone pic of Em taken by Nana, wearing her pink rainboots. That really brings it all together, now doesn't it? :)
I'm sure there are about a thousand more things they do now that I would love to remember and will surely forget... But for now, these will do.
