Leah got an amazing new job at what is essentially a consulting firm back in the Boston area. She packed up and left Austin and living with her family, started her new job, and spent six weeks living with our dear friends Scotty and Linda (saints, both of you!!). I finished up some experiments in Austin, held down the fort with the girls, and tried to finish packing our house. That was September! Leah flew back to the ATX to help with the actual move at the end of the month. We managed to ship two cars, put our stuff in storage in Austin, and fly back to the northeast in one weekend. I settled at the beach house for 4 weeks with the girls, while Leah trucked back to Boston for her work. On Oct 9th, we closed on the house that we had purchased in a whirlwind weekend over the summer (thanks to real estate agent, Saint Dave!). We picked paint colors. Oh, did we ever pick paint colors! We finally thought we were moving into our new house, to be reunited as a family once more. And then Hurricane Sandy decided she had other plans! Our moving truck was stuck in Tennessee, and a house directly on the CT sound seemed like not quite the right place to be. We evacuated to my Uncle Lee and Aunt Rita's house in NH, which was the biggest blessing in disguise I could have imagined. Spending almost a week living with them was so special, we all got so much quality time together, and really got to know the girls on a whole new level. And THEN, finally, we moved into our house.
Cue Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and the rest of the year disappeared in a flash! The girls started full-time daycare today, and I went back to work to finish up my post-doc fellowship at a lab in Cambridge.
Which brings us back to the blog... I have missed posting pictures and stories about the girls, mostly because it is such a memorial to their little lives and how FAST they grow and change. I never made them a baby book - this blog was intended to be that for them, fitting for babies growing up in an internet-centered generation. And I've missed a whole 6 months of major change!
I'll be going back and posting pictures from the past few months to catch us up to where we are now - running, talking, and being generally as hilarious as you can imagine.

After the total circus that is dressing toddlers in New England winter (clothes, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, boots, mittens, snowpants, oh my lord...), I miss the days of a onesie and NOTHING else! It's really neat to look back on pics of the girls scampering around the backyard, barefoot...

Yay!! Sweet girls are back! I'm going to try to update ours too. Xo
