And then we all got sick...

Aaaah.  Now I get it.  That stuff before?  When there were two adults taking care of two babies?  That was actually the easy part.  Little did we realize...

Last week, Charlotte started sounding snuffly.  The congestion in her nose and throat grew, she started coughing and sneezing a whole lot, and she mellowed out quite a bit.  Sick!  We didn't bother trying to separate the two of them - when one twin gets sick, there's just no way to keep the other from getting it.  Sure enough, two days later, Em started presenting the same symptoms.  And then, Leah and I both woke up on Friday and looked at each other and said "do you have it too???"  Fortunately, L feels a little better than I do.  She's able to take echinacea to keep it at bay a little, but I'm very conservative in the "herbs" I take because of breastfeeding.  Charlotte appears to be at least past the worst point, poor Em is still snotting everywhere.  But no one is vomiting or has diarrhea, so I guess I should be counting my blessings - and realize that this, too, is even easier than it will some day be.

Which brings me back to the question - who the hell takes care of who?!  When all four of us are sick! Well, the answer is obvious, of course.  It's just I never realized before now...  and all of a sudden I have so much more understanding and respect for our parents.

Thank you, Mops & Pops.  Thank you, Jim & Pat.  Thank you, Donna.  For all those times you took care of us when you were sick too.  It's only now that I can truly appreciate what that meant.

xoxo,
Chris & Leah

  1. hope everyone is on the mend soon! just wait until it's a stomach virus and one of you is curled up in fetal position on the floor with the babies while the other commandeers the only bathroom in the house. good times. :)
