What have you been doing? I jest.
Yesterday Chris and I celebrated (in a calm fashion) our second wedding anniversary. Technically the "cotton anniversary", we opted instead to make it the "cheesecake anniversary". Henceforth all anniversaries will be cheesecake anniversaries. Whole Foods actually makes a hell of a cheesecake.
Two years seems like yesterday and 10 years ago at the same time. I remember the way the woods smelled when I took a run that morning, the light at our ceremony, the look in Chris' eyes. I remember the way we hoped the barn floor would hold during the dancing and the incredible star-filled night. I remember feeling buoyed by the love of our tremendous community of friends and family. Sometime during the weekend I realized our commitment was not just to each other, but to our community. We commit to do this thing right, and you commit to supporting us in what we decided to do. I never dreamed I'd feel support like that again. And then a little over a year later, when things took a turn for the worse with Chris' pregnancy, the support came again - in wave after wave. We felt it and heard it from everywhere and, again, it carried us along.
We may take some credit for our marriage and for our beautiful girls, but both things are a testament to the strength and love of our community as well. For you, we are so thankful.
To my wife I say: thank you coming on this adventure with me. Every day, even when we are tired or stressed, I am thankful for the best wife, mother, and friend anyone could ever hope to have. I love you.
Congratulations on your anniversary!! Wow, you guys have such an amazing.... like, everything!
