Charlotte: She's expanding her vocab! She now not only says "goo" and "gaa", but the recently acquired "gee". She also has successfully rolled over from her back to her stomach completely, while on a hard surface. She's only done it by rolling over her right shoulder, but we are so psyched! Nice one, Char! Char also has definitely found her toes and is fully obsessed with them. I think it helps that they are painted a nice bright red - good contrast to her feet. She will entertain herself and stare at them for minutes on end, which, in babyland, is an eternity.

Emerson: Em continues to be about a few weeks behind her sister in terms of development, sweet little thing. She is smiling and talking so much more than she was even on our trip. She's trying to roll and is working on that with some serious determination. Her slight neck torticollis is definitely much better, and is almost unnoticeable now that we are in major tummy time mode. Em has great concentration and is able to entertain herself for longer periods of time, and more contentedly so. It's really cool to put her in front of a toy and come back five minutes later and find her still enjoying herself. She also loves watching her sister - it's the sweetest thing. They're both doing a lot of grasping & pulling things into their mouths - motor skills, go!
Both girls sit up in their Bumbo just great, and I'll often put one in the crib with a bunch of toys while I breastfeed the other. They stay much more content if they can see me than if they are laying on their backs in the crib. Thanks for the hand-me-down Bumbo, SKT!!![]() |

They also have outgrown all their 0-3 month clothes and are now wearing only 3-6 month sizes. I had started shelving some clothes that were too small, and pulling out some of the next size up, but this weekend I officially organized their "closet" and made the switch. It is so freaking fun playing with their clothes, I can't believe it. :)
In other news, we tentatively have found a bottle they might accept! The MAM is our current lifesaver, although I may be getting ahead of myself, as they've only taken it once - last night. Leah found a recommendation to try slipping in the bottle in the middle of a dream feed, and both girls willingly took this bottle last night that way! Hurrah! My plans for going back to work on October 1st were looking more and more dismal with the screaming terror-filled fights that became trying to get them to drink from a bottle... But now we have some hope. We'll keep working the MAM at night for a few more nights and then try it during the day.
Sleep training is exhausting. One nap it will go great, and the next will be terrible. Ah, sigh. We'll get there, day by day, I suppose!
I think that's it for a 5 month update, besides the fact that today is our anniversary! Two years ago today we got married, and the girls were but a dream. It's amazing to be on the other side of that dream...
