After three plus weeks of family, friends, and fun(!) (and an earthquake and a hurricane), we are safely back in Austin. There is no shortage of natural disasters for these little ones, apparently, as Central Texas is now experiencing horrible wildfires. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and responders who have been impacted by these terrible fires.
We logged something like 1,200 photos on our East Coast tour so we'll be posting a lot in the coming days -- but don't worry, we edit, so it won't be that many photos.
I did want to take a second to acknowledge that today was a big day for a few reasons. There was a first - as in first fevers last night as the girls processed their 4 month old round of vaccinations. They were more or less back to normal today (Charlotte chatty, Emerson observant), and should be fine tomorrow.
Bigger still is the fact that today is the day that Charlotte and Emerson became mine in the eyes of the law. We've been a family since before we even found out we were having a child (or two), but today we appeared before Judge Rhonda Hurley to make the adoption final. We signed some papers and agreed before the Judge to love and protect our little ones. I swore that I understood what it meant to be a parent for life. The Moms cried a little, the girls squirmed a little, and everything was right with the world.
Signing off until we get our photos downloaded...
Sincere and utmost CONGRATULATIONS to all of you. :)
