A Big Weekend for the Big Girls

For those of you eagerly awaiting "A Day in the Life of Charlotte", don't worry, it'll come.  Right now, however, we have a few big events to share.  First, the inaugural visit of Mimi and Pop Pop (aka Pat & Jim Campbell).  They braved the broiling heat of Texas for a little time with the little ones.  We were so very excited to see them and hang out.
Pop Pop spent the better part of one day making lasagnas while Mimi helped us with the important work of cuddling the girls.  Our freezer is now equal parts lasagna and milk.  Here's a tip, don't drink the milk. We had a blast with them and did get out to show them a few marvels including our favorite local market (Farm to Market), the wonders of the South Congress food trailer scene (no, we did not object to some Hey Cupcake), and Central Market.

In other news, on Friday, the girls had their one month pediatrician appointment.  It was awesome!  We mostly talked to the doc about how well they are doing.  She confessed that right now they are about her easiest patients --- not at all what she expected when we pleaded with her to add our preemies to her then-closed practice.  Emerson weighed in at a whopping 6 lbs, 10 ounces.  While those who know me realize I prefer qualitative to quantitative, that does mean she's added about 54 percent of her body weight in a month.  Seriously.  And what have you been doing?  Likewise, "little" Charlotte weighed in at 6 lbs, 6 ounces, a total gain of 52 percent of her weight. BOOM.

We need to post some more shots but it is safe to say they are leaving preemiedom behind, cultivating several chins each, and the diapers now fit.  Speaking of diapers, I'll leave you with a shot of the backyard --  Mexican party flags, Daly style.*
