No, we can't tell them apart... yet

Leah & Emma

Sadly the videos won't upload because of the slow interwebs at the hospital, but here are a few more pictures. I promise to get more of Chris and babies. I think I just sort of stare at mom and the girls when she holds them... which means I am not going to win the photographer job unless I step it up.

People have asked us if we'll dress the girls in matching outfits. Well, in an effort to clear up any confusion Chris and I wore the same thing to NICU. Not so cute, huh? In all seriousness, an important part of helping the girls is skin-to-skin time. So that was what was about to happen here.

Chris & Charlotte
According to one of our favorite nurses, there is research that suggests that skin time helps the pre-frontal cortex develop -- that's the seat of some more advanced functioning, including things like compassion and empathy.  She basically had me at, "research suggests snuggling is good." Count us in.

Back to matching outfits just for a moment --- the other issue with the clothes is that we are already saying things like, "based on the angle and the bandage on her hand, I think that is Emma in that photo."  We are definitely not going to need to make it harder to tell them apart.

Another common question we encountered had to do with whether or not Chris was really carrying twins.  Most folks never saw her that big because we whisked her away to the hospital for bed rest.  Yes, she is a tiny person, and yes she was carrying around two tinier people.  Most of the photos have featured one or the other so here's the proof that there really are two.

  1. They are beautiful. You both look so wonderful holding them. Maybe it is time for a dab of toe polish for one of the little ones? Lots of Mom's swear by this ID idea. Great Grandpa loved the picture of Emma.We were all thinking about the 4 of you on Easter.
